Top 5 Benefits of Cold Laser Therapy

Updated: Feb 20

What is cold laser?

Low Level Laser Therapy, LLLT, also called cold laser therapy or photobiomodulation therapy, is a type of phototherapy designed to repair tissue, reduce pain and inflammation, and provide other benefits for patients.

Cold lasers can stimulate all types of cells, including muscle, ligaments, nerves and cartilage. This stimulation of light energy works similar to photosynthesis in plants, as it is absorbed and interacts with light-sensitive components in the body’s cells.

This treatment promotes the body’s natural healing response by stimulating parts of the cell that produce energy. The mitochondria, the cell energy manufacturer, are receptors capable of absorbing distinct parameters of light. Think of these receptors like any drug receptors.

When we consume a prescription medication, the compound is absorbed by the body and it locates a particular receptor, and based upon its molecular design, will bind to that receptor. Once the drug binds, a secondary reaction inside the cell takes place. A similar mechanism is observed when exposing the body to a particular color of light.

During a laser treatment the light will penetrate the skin and is absorbed by this receptor within the mitochondria. Receptor stimulation with light promotes energy production, biochemical reactions, protein and growth factor synthesis, cell growth and proliferation and enhanced blood and oxygen flow.

Increased blood flow reduces painful inflammation and stimulates cellular healing.

What problems may Cold Laser help?

· Low Back Pain, Neck Pain, Knee and Shoulder pain, Chronic Plantar Fasciitis

· Sports Injuries – Sprains/Strains/Tears

· Post-Operation Wound Healing

· Thyroid Problems

· Liver Detox

** And a growing body of research showing success with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's symptoms**

As a non-invasive procedure, LLLT can be performed at Integrity Chiropractic and Wellness, providing a distinct advantage because there is no recovery time and no side effects, which makes LLLT an attractive treatment option for a variety of conditions.

Many patients find that this solution is a much more effective and immediate alternative to traditional pain medications. Combined with chiropractic and nutrition, the cold laser can help patients lead a normal, active, and healthy life without debilitating pain or problematic hormonal and digestive issues.

Since 1967, more than 2,500 studies have been conducted on the safety and effectiveness of LLLT in providing relief from pain and other symptoms. Many of these studies attest to its reliability in treating these conditions and recommend the treatment as a preferred non-invasive technique.
